The buy.
When I heard about the car being for sale, in late 2000, I decided to go and take a look at it.
The car was a very original Alfetta 1.6GT, it was imported from Italy in 1995, and was build in 1980.
The bodywork had some minor rusty spots beneath the side windows, and on the inner frontwings.
The engine was in good condition, and the gearbox shifted great!
The only bad thing about the car was the fact of being equipped with an ordinary 1.6 litre engine.

Hmm.., before actually buying it, I was already thinking about an engine upgrade.

Thinking about...
Thinking about converting the car in a faster one, and considering the possible opportunities.

I thought about fitting a 2.5 or a 3.0 litre V6 engine in it, that would certainly make the car go a lot faster, but.. well, I thought it had to be easier to buy an original V6, and then rebuild the exterior trim back to the basic model. And I also had to rebuild the dashboard. (just because I like the basic model dashboard and exterior)
I've seen guys do that kind of things before, and I wanted something different.

Other opportunities...
Other opportunities crossed my mind, I was thinking about building in a 2.0 litre carburated engine...
Hmm.. this car was sold a lot in the 2.0 litre carburated edition,it wouldn't be such a big difference with those models, and not even a rare thing.
I considered the possibility of fitting in a 2.0 litre turbocharged engine from an Alfa 164, but these cars were either hard to find, or to expensive.
Then the thoughts of fitting an Alfa 75 TwinSpark engine came in to my mind, I actually almost bought a 75TS to use as a donor car, but the testride showed some problems on the engine, and the salesman was hard to deal with, so we couldn't agree, and I still didn't have the right engine for my car.
